In this role you will have the opportunity to join an early stage, highly funded biotechnology research company. The role will support research and commercialization in developing and managing a disease assay pipeline to evaluate performance of new fungicidal microbes. 

This position will be hired at Research Scientist or Senior Research Scientist level depending on experience. Pebble Labs is located in the scientific hub of Los Alamos, New Mexico and draws upon the synergy of one of the top laboratories in the United States. Neighboring Santa Fé and Taos communities with its diverse cultural, artistic and music scene, together with outdoors activities including skiing, hiking and fishing in the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains, offers a unique living and family friendly environment.


What is required in this role:

  • Ph.D. in plant pathology or virology is required
  • A minimum 3 years relevant industry experience in plant pathology and disease bioassay is required
  • Strong foundational knowledge and experience in plant-pathogen interactions, pathogen genetics and biology, plant diseases caused by virus, fungus, or nematodes
  • Experience in developing effective and comprehensive disease control strategies by harnessing plant and/or soil microbiomes.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in bench work and lead in planta disease bioassay pipeline with emphasis on fungal diseases of agricultural products focused on tomato and citrus.  
  • Experience with cutting-edge techniques, including the latest genetics (CRISPR, RNAi), genomics, phonemics approaches and their applications in different pathosystems
  • Preferred demonstrated experience in agricultural field research and the development of biological and/or crop protection products is a requirement
  • 25% – 40% of travel required to field testing locations
