What is required in this role: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, plant pathology, or related areas
  • 3+ years of laboratory research in an academic or corporate biology setting
  • 1 – 2 + years of experience in an agriculture industry environment focused on commercialization and product development 
  • Strong understanding of biology including extensive experience with laboratory and greenhouse insect bioassay, molecular cloning, DNA, RNA, and protein quantitative/qualitative assays
  • A proven track record of designing, executing, analyzing and troubleshooting laboratory experiments
  • Ability to work independently with tight deadlines and in a multi-disciplinary team supervised by a senior scientist

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Laboratory Experience – Previous use of specialized equipment/procedures such as PCR, DNA/RNA Extraction, Media Preparation, Gel Electrophoresis, Tissue Culture, Protein Extraction, Western blots, microscopy, etc
  • Other Experience: Knowledge and experience in virology / insect-vector biology is desirable
  • Communication Impact – strong written and verbal communication skills with project teams
  • Collaboration – team player who can work in a high activity, fast-paced environment
  • Quality and Procedures – Responsible for understanding experimental procedures of work being performed to assure the accuracy and quality of test results
