Compensation: $55K – $65K Base + Bonus/Incentives

We have an opening in our algae team researching the production of various chemicals from algae, as an alternative to environmentally damaging sources such as petroleum. This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of a senior scientist. What is required for this role

  • Bachelor’s Degree in biology, biochemistry or microbiology is required plus 5+ years of experience
  • Preferred – Master’s Degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, or related areas with 3+ years of laboratory research experience in an academic or corporate biology setting
  • Strong understanding and experience in biochemistry and molecular biology including experience with cell culture, transformation, cloning, PCR, RT-PCR, protein expression and immuno-detection, enzyme assays, and general laboratory procedures
  • Ability to work independently with tight deadlines and in a multidisciplinary team working on multiple concurrent projects

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Laboratory Research Experience – transformation of eukaryotic microorganisms, HPLC, LC-MS, lipid extraction and analysis methods, metabolic engineering, microscopy
  • Communication – strong written and verbal communication skills within and across teams
  • Collaboration – team player who can work in a high activity, fast-paced environment
  • Organization – keen attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work in an organized and methodical manner 
  • Quality and Procedures – solid understanding of experimental procedures to assure the accuracy and quality of results
