As a critical member of our team, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving safety for our Biolab operations. You will initiate, develop, implement, maintain,and revise policies and procedures and periodically review safety and other standards of laboratory operations to ensure their relevance; procures and manages chemicals, biomaterials, and equipment. 

 

This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of senior scientists and company management. As we continue to grow, so will your role and the scope of the challenges you will learn to take on. 

 

What is required for this role: 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Biology, Industrial Hygiene, microbiology or a related field
  • Preferably a Master’s or PhD in Environmental Health & Safety
  • 6+ years of laboratory health and safety experience
  • 2+ years of research experience in a life science laboratory
  • Laboratory compliance experience with but not limited to EPA, USDA, EPCRA, OSHA, OBA, and NIH
  • Expert knowledge of laboratory microbiology and molecular genetics procedures 
  • Safety Audit Experience
  • Chemical Hygiene Experience including procurement, use, storage, and correct disposal of chemicals
  • Biomaterial Handling – experience in managing biomaterials including physical inventory and maintaining/updating biomaterial handling procedures for storing, shipping, and receiving 
  • Communication impact – strong written and verbal communication skills

Ideal Qualifications: 

 

  • Ergonomics Safety – experience working with scientific teams and their environment
  • OSHA Certifications 
  • Knowledge of OSHA and Federal Regulations for BSL-1 and BSL-2 containment practices
  • Collaboration – a team player who can work in a high activity, fast-paced environment
  • Self-Starter – can work independently and be able to collaborate with senior scientists and managers to make appropriate and timely decisions
  • Biology Experience – ideally plant biology experience
  • Teaching Experience
